xxxxFACILITIES AND RESOURCES
Our school is made up of two main buildings: one dedicated to secondary education and the other to Bachillerato. In addition, we offer extensive shared spaces designed to support both learning and social development. All areas are fully equipped with the resources needed to deliver high-quality, student-centred education in a welcoming environment. Our school has eliminated architectural barriers, complying with current accessibility regulations and ensuring access for individuals with physical disabilities or impairments. There is a vehicular access area, allowing school buses, private cars, and emergency services to reach the school when necessary. Both buildings have their own multi-purpose spaces which are used for meetings, conferences, exhibitions and celebrations. We have two libraries, one in each building. Both house an extensive collection of books, journals, and digital resources for both reference and reading, covering all subjects and year groups. Access to the books is automated and digitally managed by designated staff. One of the libraries, El Rincón de Lectura, is located in a quiet, well-lit area, ideal for study and reading. It is a colourful and welcoming space for students, and during breaks it is common to find them playing chess. The school has fully equipped science laboratories that provide students with hands-on experience in scientific practice and experimentation. These facilities include a dedicated Chemistry lab, a Physics lab, and two Biology-Geology labs. Each laboratory is designed to support practical learning through modern equipment and specialised materials tailored to each subject area. Students regularly engage in experiments, data analysis, and scientific inquiry as part of their curriculum, encouraging curiosity and a deeper understanding of the natural world. There are three computer labs, each equipped with a sufficient number of computers to ensure that every student has access to their own device during lessons. These labs are used across a variety of subjects that require digital tools, supporting activities such as research, presentations, and multimedia projects. Additionally, we have a specialised Technology Classroom designed for courses in Technology, Control and Robotics, and Computer Programming. These spaces foster creativity, problem-solving, and digital literacy, helping students develop key skills for the future. For physical education, we have two spacious indoor gyms, fully equipped for a wide range of sports and fitness activities. In addition, the school offers outdoor sports courts where students can practise basketball, football, volleyball, and other sports. These facilities are used during PE lessons, extracurricular activities, and school competitions, promoting physical wellbeing, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle. Our aim is to encourage all students to stay active, develop their motor skills, and enjoy the benefits of regular physical exercise in a safe environment. In summary, the school offers a wide range of well-equipped facilities that support both academic and personal development. From science and computer labs to sports areas, libraries, and specialised classrooms, every space is designed to provide students with a comprehensive, modern, and engaging learning environment. |

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES
At IES Eras de Renueva, we offer a comprehensive academic pathway that includes both Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) and Bachillerato. ESO spans four years, from ages 12 to 16, and is structured from 1st to 4th ESO. Reflecting our strong commitment to language learning, secondary education is delivered through four different programmes: the standard curriculum in Spanish, the British Council Programme with some subjects taught in English, the Bilingual English Section, where certain subjects are delivered in English, and the Bilingual French Section, which includes classes taught in French. In addition, students benefit from various support programmes such as the Reinforcement and Support Programme (1st and 2nd ESO), the Educational Success Improvement Programme, and remedial classes for pending subjects. Following ESO, students can continue their education with our two-year Bachillerato (ages 16 to 18), choosing between Humanities and Social Sciences or Sciences, which includes both Health Sciences and Technological Sciences. We also offer the Bachibac Programme, a bilingual Spanish-French Bachillerato that provides students with an enriched academic experience and access to dual certification.
The British Council Programme aims to provide bilingual education through linguistic and cultural immersion in both Spanish and English, following an integrated curriculum that combines key elements of the Spanish and British educational systems. Within this framework, several subjects are taught entirely in English, including Biology-Geology, Geography and History, Economics, Physics-Chemistry, and English itself. As part of the programme, students also have the opportunity to take the internationally recognised IGCSE exams at the end of 4th ESO, further enriching their academic and linguistic experience.
In the Bilingual English Section, the curriculum follows the standard Spanish educational system, but English is used as the language of instruction for several subjects. This approach allows students to strengthen their language skills while learning academic content. Subjects taught entirely in English include Biology-Geology, Geography and History, Technology, Music, Economics, Physics-Chemistry, and English, offering students continuous exposure to the language in a variety of contexts and disciplines.
In the Bilingual French Section, the programme follows the standard Spanish curriculum, but French is used as the language of instruction for specific subjects. This model promotes both language acquisition and cultural awareness through academic content. Subjects taught entirely in French include Physical Education, Visual Arts, Classical Culture, Technology, History, and French, allowing students to develop their communication skills in French while engaging with a broad range of disciplines.
The Bachibac Programme enables students to obtain both the Spanish Bachillerato diploma and the French Baccalauréat upon completing their post-compulsory secondary education. This high-achievement, dual-curriculum programme is available in selected schools across Spain and France. In León, IES Eras de Renueva is the only school offering Bachibac, which can be followed within any Bachillerato track: Sciences, Humanities, or Social Sciences. In addition to the standard subjects of the chosen track, students take specific Bachibac subjects. In 1st year, these include French as the primary language (French Language and Literature), Physical Education, and French Culture and Civilization. In 2nd year, students continue with French Language and Literature, study the History of Spain and France, and deepen their understanding of French Culture and Civilization. This double diploma not only enriches students’ academic profiles, but also facilitates access to higher education in both Spain and France. |
